Sustainability

People • Planet • Profit

It is of the utmost importance to us that our clothing is 100% vegan-friendly, ethically made and sustainable. We are a clothing company with a conscience. A vegan clothing company through and through.

Most people understand vegan clothing to contain no wool, silk, suede, leather, fur or feathers. However, it’s also important to realise that many vegan alternatives often have at least a degree of synthetics. Some so-called vegan leathers are 100 per cent plastic. Plastic, of course, is made from fossil fuels. Hardly ideal for the environment. When it comes to materials like polyester, which is often used in clothing, there’s also the issue of microplastics. These microplastics are released into our waterways every time the item is washed.

All our plant-based clothing is made from 100% organic cotton.

In our opinion, conventional cotton can never be ethically justified. This is due to its extremely high water consumption, the pollution and soil degradation it causes, the greenhouse gasses emitted, and the harmful pesticides and fertilisers used.

Organic cotton is grown from seeds that have not been genetically modified (non-GMO) and are grown without chemical pesticides and fertilisers. Organic cotton farming utilises natural methods like crop rotation, which benefit the soil and the environment, promoting good health and life quality for farmers and their communities.

Cultivating organic cotton ensures that no chemical insecticides or pesticides flow into the soil or waterways. This means that the water used is not lost water, as it can be reused and returned to the earth and water sources without harm.

Our ethical vegan t-shirts are sourced exclusively from a 100% GOTS certified supplier. They ensure the safety of all workers. They work with the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), which has awarded them ‘Leader’ status. This certifies that they are following best practices.

Our supplier is continually working to minimise their environmental impact.

All our sustainable vegan clothing is screen printed in the UK. The company we have chosen were the first in the UK to exclusively use 100% solvent-free water-based inks for their garment printing.

Their products are PETA-approved vegan. Every reagent used in their business is checked to ensure no animal-based ingredients are used. They only supply plant-based drinks, and their monthly free staff lunches are vegan.

Our garment labels are made from seed paper which is 100% biodegradable and made from recycled materials. It does hold the gold medal in being kind to the environment.

When the paper is made, seeds are thrown into the mix, which will grow into beautiful wildflowers, which in turn will benefit bees.

Please refer to our seed paper planting guide for complete instructions.

Our printing company is the first to hold the Vegetarian Society Approved Vegan Accreditation in the UK. Their products and manufacturing processes are traced back to the lab to ensure every element is 100% vegan. This includes paper and ink and the packaging and adhesives they use. They are also a local small business.

Our tags are hand-tied to our clothing using natural jute twine manufactured in the UK. This twine is undyed and 100% biodegradable.

We use 100% recycled, PH neutral, vegan tissue paper to wrap our clothing. The tissue paper is secured using a branded sticker, printed with vegan-friendly ink on recycled paper. Naturally, the adhesive is vegan friendly too.

Our invoices are printed on paper made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste, using a chlorine-free whitening process. Our printer ink is vegan friendly. On the back of the invoice, you will find a colouring page that will keep the little ones entertained or serve as a way for you to de-stress after a busy day.

We will post your order to you in a compostable mailer. Each mailer has a double seal, enabling them to be used for returns. Dispose of used bags in a compost bin with garden waste and food scraps, and they’ll break down into rich garden compost in around six months!

Our shipping labels are FSC-recycled, vegan and compostable.
We actively encourage you to hand down our children’s clothing wherever possible. If this is not possible, please consider donating to charity or reselling on eBay.

We are not perfect, but we are constantly striving to improve. Our mission is to provide ethical, sustainable vegan clothing that promotes compassion for the planet and all its inhabitants.

Rebel V is a small vegan owned business which operates from our home in Essex. We use only 100% renewable electricity. We have rescued hens, and we are growing as much fruit and vegetables as possible. Leftovers (if we have any!) are frozen to reduce food waste. Suitable vegetable trimmings and peelings are fed to our hens, and the rest goes onto our compost pile.

We reuse and recycle wherever possible.

We are actively trying to reduce our carbon footprint.
